1. Introduction

Tanmoy Majumder ("we", "our", or "us") operates the MiniVibe: Offline Music Player mobile application (package com.minivibe.music). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices when you use MiniVibe.

MiniVibe is designed primarily as an offline music player for music stored locally on your Android device. Your locally stored music files, audio metadata, playlists, lyrics, and equalization preferences are processed on-device.

2. Information Stored and Processed Locally

MiniVibe accesses and processes locally stored music files and related library information on your device inside a local Room SQLite database (app_database). This includes:

  • Audio Files & Metadata: Track titles, artist names, album titles, genre, duration, bitrates, file formats (MP3, FLAC, AAC, WAV, OGG, M4A), and album artwork.
  • Playlists & History: Custom user playlists, recently played tracks, play counts, queue positions, and favorite tracks.
  • Audio Preferences: 10-band equalizer gain levels, bass boost levels, virtualizer settings, and DSP pre-amp presets.
  • Local Lyrics: Embedded ID3 tags and standalone synchronized .lrc lyric files stored alongside audio tracks.

Crucial Guarantee: MiniVibe is designed to process your local music library on your device. Your locally stored music files and personal music-library information are not uploaded to MiniVibe's servers or any third-party remote storage.

3. Media & Storage Permissions

To provide local playback, MiniVibe requests explicit Android system permissions:

  • Android 13+ (API 33+): Requests READ_MEDIA_AUDIO permission to query local music files via Android MediaStore.
  • Android 12 and earlier: Requests READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to discover and index audio files.
  • Notifications: Requests POST_NOTIFICATIONS on Android 13+ to display media controls (Play, Pause, Skip, Track Title, Cover Art) in the system notification shade.

MiniVibe does not access photos, videos, contacts, camera, location, or personal documents. You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time via Android System Settings.

4. Firebase Analytics

MiniVibe integrates Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous application usage metrics to help us optimize performance and UI design.

Collected Anonymous Events:

  • Application open and session duration buckets
  • Library scan completed/failed counts
  • UI screen navigation (e.g., opening Equalizer or Lyrics view)
  • Feature toggles (e.g., enabling Crossfade or dark mode)

Strictly Excluded Items: Song titles, artist names, album titles, search query text, playlist names, local file paths, URIs, and lyrics contents are never logged into analytics. You can opt out of analytics at any time in MiniVibe Settings.

5. Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor application stability and resolve crashes promptly. When a crash occurs, Crashlytics automatically collects technical diagnostic data, including:

  • Stack traces and code line exception logs
  • Device model name, CPU architecture, and total RAM
  • Android OS version and battery level at the time of crash
  • MiniVibe app version code and build variant

Crash reports contain no personal identifiers, song titles, or file paths.

6. Firebase Performance Monitoring

Firebase Performance Monitoring measures app startup time, database query latency for local indexing, and UI rendering performance. This technical telemetry is aggregated anonymously to ensure fast, fluid 60 FPS playback performance on low-end and high-end Android devices alike.

7. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)

MiniVibe includes Firebase Cloud Messaging to send optional push notifications regarding major version releases, critical security updates, and app news. FCM uses an anonymous device registration token generated by Google Play Services. These tokens are used solely to deliver notifications and are never linked to personal identity or sold.

8. Firebase App Check

Firebase App Check may be used to verify that requests to backend telemetry and remote configuration originate from authentic, un-tampered MiniVibe app builds installed from Google Play.

9. Firebase Remote Config

MiniVibe uses Firebase Remote Config to dynamically update non-sensitive app settings (such as feature flags or minimum recommended version alerts) without requiring a full app reinstall. Remote Config retrieves static parameters and does not track personal data.

10. Advertising & Google AdMob

MiniVibe integrates Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to support free app availability. AdMob may process non-sensitive device data (such as Google Advertising ID, IP address for general geolocation, and ad interaction metrics) in compliance with Google Play Developer Policies.

Ad Placement Boundaries: Ads are confined strictly to secondary navigation screens (Library lists, Search, Playlists). Ads are never displayed inside the Now Playing screen, playback controls, lyrics viewer, or equalizer interface, ensuring zero interruption to your audio listening experience.

11. Offline Functionality

MiniVibe is fully operational without an internet connection. Core features—including local music scanning, MP3/FLAC playback, 10-band equalizer tuning, LRC lyrics display, and playlist creation—work 100% offline. Network connectivity is utilized only for optional cloud services such as AdMob ad delivery, FCM announcements, and Firebase diagnostics.

12. Local Lyrics (.LRC)

MiniVibe parses synchronized lyrics directly from embedded ID3 tags or local .lrc text files stored on your device. MiniVibe does not transmit, upload, or scrape lyrics from external web servers.

13. Bluetooth & Media Controls

MiniVibe registers standard Android MediaSession callbacks to respond to media button events from Bluetooth headsets, wired headphones, smartwatches, and Android Auto car head units (Play, Pause, Next, Previous). No personal audio data or Bluetooth device identifiers are stored or shared.

14. Background Playback Service

MiniVibe runs an Android Foreground Service with an active persistent media notification during playback. This allows continuous high-fidelity audio output when the app is minimized or when your screen is locked.

15. Data Sharing Disclosures

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Anonymous diagnostic telemetry and advertising metrics are processed exclusively through Google Firebase and Google AdMob under Google's strict data protection terms.

16. Data Retention

Information stored locally (playlists, playback history, equalizer presets) remains on your device until you clear app data, uninstall MiniVibe, or delete the files. Third-party telemetry data is retained by Firebase/AdMob in accordance with standard Google retention policies (typically 2 to 14 months for aggregated reporting).

17. Data Deletion & User Controls

You have complete control over your data:

  • Clear Local App Data: Go to Android Settings → Apps → MiniVibe → Storage → Clear Data to instantly wipe all local playlists, history, and preferences.
  • Opt-Out of Analytics: Toggle off "Usage & Diagnostic Telemetry" inside MiniVibe App Settings.
  • Reset Advertising ID: Reset or delete your Android Advertising ID via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

18. Children's Privacy

MiniVibe is a general-audience local utility player and does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe child data has been inadvertently processed via third-party SDKs, please contact us immediately for removal.

19. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security safeguards. All network communications with Firebase and AdMob utilize TLS 1.3 HTTPS encryption. Local databases are protected within Android's sandboxed application storage space.

20. Third-Party Services List

MiniVibe relies on the following verified Google SDK services:

21. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), you have rights to access, restrict, or opt-out of data processing. You may exercise these choices via Android settings or by contacting the developer directly.

22. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app updates or legal requirement changes. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
